BUILDER HOT TIP

In a composite environment it can sometimes be difficult to attach items such as wire bundles to the side of a composite structure without adding a hardpoint of some kind. The neatest things we have found to solve this problem are called EZ-Points. They are flat on one side and either threaded studs or nuts on the other. Prep the area to which you are applying the EZ-Point, sand or grit blast the flat side of the EZ-Point, put flox on it and stick it where its needed. For heavier structure, put two plies of glass BID over the area. It provides a superior bond and allows you to put “hardpoints” wherever you need them. They are available from Aircraft Spruce and Specialty in a variety of thread sizes.
